Here's to Why You Should Enjoy Being Single

Many people across the world frequently associate singlehood with 'Freedom'. The freedom to be able to do anything at any cost without being questioned or followed.

Here's to Why You Should Enjoy Being Single

Being single also comes with its advantages and disadvantages but in most cases many people especially the current generation find it 'odd' or rather 'weird' to be single.

The current society has also contributed to the outward look of 'singlehood' which many people tend to follow.

Society views a single woman as a failure rather than an independent person. They believe they have a flaw that keeps them single. It somehow makes marriage and finding a man the ultimate goal of life, while any other option is rejected as an unwanted goal in life.

Even in her late twenties, a woman's single status appears to be a form of warfare. In order to face the challenges of everyday life, she must fight every question that society throws at her. And the questions have nothing to do with her career, goals, or dreams, but rather with settling down.

On the contrary, single men appear to be capable bachelors and potential assets to the family rather than a liability. While this isn't entirely true, as, after their 30s, even single men face some pressure to settle down, it is still their choice whether or not to do so.

Going through this phase should not discourage you since it is normal and we all have to go through the different steps in life in order to become stronger and better in the life ahead.

One thing to note is that, as a single person, you should be happy that this phase is happening in your life as it is a stage you are most likely to grow, add value to yourself, exploit the world and do different things that you have always wished to do because when the time comes, you will have to move to the next stage of life.

When you are not legally bound to another person, you have the freedom to learn, grow, and explore without feeling guilty about taking time for yourself. And the payoff is that if you do decide to pair off with someone, you'll know exactly who you are and what you're looking for.

According to Paul Dolan, a behavioral science professor at the London School of Economics, for what it's worth, single, childless women may be the happiest demographic

That happiness isn’t due to their solitary status; in fact, singles actually have very strong relationships. “One of the major benefits of being single is having the space in your life to spend quality time with friends,” states Roxy Zarrabi, a clinical psychologist.

Being single also increases your connections with others in society. So, worry less, take your time, discover yourself and what you want in your life and everything will fall into place at the right time when you actually least expect it.
