According to police, the two were last seen Wednesday at their home at 4 p.m., when Susan Aoko, a housekeeper, picked up the child who had been dropped off by the school bus.

Doreen Mbatia stated that when she returned from work, she discovered that her child, the housekeeper, and a few household things were missing.

The last signals from her phone suggested that she was in the Kirwara area close to Gatanga, but all attempts to contact her were unsuccessful.

“The mother reported that her kid Jabari Mbatia who attends school at Tassel Kindergarten was dropped at their residence at around 4 pm but when she got home at around 6 pm, she found the home empty with the kid and the house help not around,” the police report read in part.

According to the police, they are tracking the suspect's movements in order to find the kid and detain the housekeeper.

In a look-alike situation, a one-year-and-seven-months child died after she was left unattended by her mother. It is believed that the 30-year-old mum went on a drinking and miraa chewing spree for three days. leaving her baby locked up in the house alone.

The incident happened in Kithimani, Yatta sub-County, Machakos county.

It is reported that the baby's sporadic wailing was often heard by masons working in the neighborhood, according to the police, who then informed the local chief.

The mother was located in the village drinking and chewing miraa with acquittances when the chief learned of the repeated cries.

When she finally opened the door to the house after being frogmarched, it was too late because the baby had already died.

The incident shocked many people. Constance Muasa, the Yatta sub-County Children's Officer, has requested that the mother of the infant be prosecuted.

The mother is being held at Yatta Police Station while awaiting arraignment in court, therefore the baby's body was transported to Yatta Funeral Home.
