Revealed Ways of Copping With Depression

Depression is a mental disorder that may be described as a feeling of anger, anxiety, sadness and loss
which may interfere with a person’s daily activities. One may have feelings of aggressiveness, feeling
empty, thoughts of suicide, excess drinking, restless sleep or even lack of it and at times headache and
digestive problems. There are different ways you can work on it although you can also seek an expert.
1) ACCEPT YOUR CONDITION
Accept your condition and know that it is a disease just like any other and still curable. Do not feel like it
is such a big problem when people know about it and do not want to approach you. We have people
with even more severe conditions but we do not hear people say that we cannot approach them
because they have cancer or any other incurable disease. Therefore, take it like any other disease, relax
and work at your best to get rid of it.
2) IMPLEMENT A DAILY SELF CARE ROUTINE
Once you do not care for yourself or leave your chores undone, you will always feel you are lazy and
incapable of anything. It will add to your negative thoughts and that is very dangerous to your mind. You
also need to ensure that you eat well and maintain self-grooming. Spend your time tiding up your space.
Go for a walk and take in fresh air. You might also include a friend you can walk with and have a
chitchat, this helps relieve you of your thoughts. Ensure you also plan for the next day beforehand.
3) ELIMINATE NEGATIVITY
Get rid of the negative thoughts you have about yourself and replace them with positive ones. Envisage
your happy times and the times you achieved tasks you undertook. Surround yourself with people that
add value to your day to day activities. You are also valuable and would be needed by the people around
you because of the good qualities you poses.
4) DO SOMETHING THAT YOU’RE HAPPY ABOUT
The many situations encountered, most people leave their jobs because it is mainly what is depressing
them, that is, they do what they do not want and therefore it does not make them happy. Keep yourself
busy with things you love to do. DIY tasks will help you create things by yourself and you will accomplish
your tasks and feel satisfied with your effort. You can also find a hobby and expound on your talent.
Connect with people that will help you better your skills and fulfil your plans and goals.
5) TALK TO OTHERS ABOUT WHAT YOU FEEL
It may be hard to talk it to others about what you feel but trust me it’s the best thing. You probably will
feel better and even get others to talk about what they go through too. You will find out that you’re not
alone in this, that, others have even bigger issues than you do. Feel free to talk to someone you trust
and get help if need be.
