How to Prepare Butter Garlic Button Mushrooms

The richness of the flavor can be built according to the choice of herbs you choose. Garlic butter mushrooms are cooked in butter and garlic, hence the name of the recipe. To get an extra kick of flavor add in more ingredients.

Why you should not overcook mushrooms

The majority of us boil the mushrooms before continuing to cook them; while this will undoubtedly preserve the texture and flavor to some extent, overcooking mushrooms is not recommended. Mushrooms can lose their nutritional content as well as their flavor and texture if they are overcooked. Cooking mushrooms properly is crucial to maintaining their nutritional value.

Spices and herbs in mushrooms

The flavor of mushrooms is enhanced by a variety of herbs and spices. Your mushroom dish can be perfectly spiced with cilantro, parsley, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, chili, cinnamon, garam masala, Kadai masala, curry powder, ground coriander, cumin, turmeric, clove, black pepper, rosemary, thyme, marjoram, dill, tarragon, oregano, aniseed, mint, kefir lime leaves, lemongrass, and bay leaf.

What type of mushroom to use?

The white button mushroom is the most widely used mushroom. The texture of button mushrooms is soft, and they can be consumed both raw and cooked. Cremini mushrooms are preferred by many mushroom lovers.  They are the same species as button and portobellos, but cremini mushrooms grow one stage later than button mushrooms. As a result, their flavor is richer, meatier, more savory, making them an excellent choice for use in recipes.

What you need to make garlic mushrooms

Mushrooms: this is the main ingredient

Unsalted butter: use unsalted butter to control the amount of salt added.

Cooking oil:  just a little oil added to the butter gets them nice and crispy on the outer edges and prevents the butter from burning.

Garlic: use fresh where you can.

Herbs: You can use any preferred herbs be it parsley, oregano, rosemary, or basil.

Salt and pepper: season the meal with salt and pepper as desired.

Tips for cooking mushrooms

To achieve consistent cooking, use mushrooms that are similar in size.

Rinse the mushrooms both before and after cutting them to keep them from becoming slimy.

If necessary, use a delicate pastry brush to gently scrub each mushroom to get rid of any loose dirt or debris.  Rinse briefly with cold water, then completely pat dry with a paper towel

Mushrooms should not be soaked because they will soak up water like a sponge and won't brown when cooked.
