I Don't Know the Next President, But I Know Who Won't Be, Says Atwoli

In what can be seen directed to DP Ruto, Atwoli lamented that instead of having rushed to start premature campaigns, Ruto should have stood with President Kenyatta and help him deliver to the Kenyans.

COTU Secretary General Francis Atwoli on Wednesday made it clear that he was unaware of President Kenyatta's successor, but he knew someone who cannot succeed Kenyatta.

In an interview session with Citizen TV, the Cotu boss openly stated that no bragging head of state has ever led this nation, calling upon the second-in-command, to choose his political advisors wisely.

"I do not know who will be the President in 2022 but I know who will not be…" stated Atwoli, wishing that DP Ruto was still in touch with his boss President Kenyatta.

Atwoli further stated that the number of followers meant nothing, in response to DP Ruto's popularity and his mass number of followers.

The trade unionist at the same time slammed leaders asking to be endorsed as presidential candidates, saying they must learn to stand independently.

On the probability of the ex-opposition leader Raila Odinga racing to succeed Kenyatta, Atwoli stated that it might be too early to dismiss him over his age, noting that he had winning chances given his large number of supporters too.

Raila recently maintained that he will not endorse anyone for the presidential race, although he himself has remained silent over his decision whether to vie or not.

Dismissing endorsement calls by Kalonzo Musyoka, and Musalia Mudavadi, Raila noted that they abandoned him during his 2018 mock swearing-in.

Responding to the abandonment claims, Kalonzo quickly responded by noting that the exercise amounted to a Constitutional breach, and there is no way it could have earned global recognition.
