“I was to resign over Rurii by-election loss but Kipipiri constituents won’t allow,” Says Kimunya

National Assembly Majority Leader Amos Kimunya has finally commented on the calls for his resignation following the Jubilee humiliating defeat to UDA candidate in Rurii Ward, Nyandarua County, by-elections.

“I was to resign over Rurii by-election loss but Kipipiri constituents won’t allow,” Says Kimunya

The Kipipiri Member of Parliament Amos Kimunya had threatened to resign if the Jubilee candidate loses in the Rurii Ward by-election.

In the 7th edition of live sessions with the Leader of Majority, Kimunya acknowledged that he had indeed promised to quit but says he is certain the people of Kipipiri won't allow him.

"Unfortunately for me, I did not consult the people of Kipipiri that I represent. Resigning is a fundamental issue that requires public participation," Kimunya said.

"When I consult enough, I doubt if the people of Kipipiri will allow me to bear the consequence on a matter of another constituency," Kimunya added.

UDA candidate Muraya Githaiga trounced Jubilee's Peter Thinji to win the ward seat in the mini-polls held on Tuesday.

The ruling Jubilee party suffered a huge blow after it lost all three mini polls held on Tuesday in Rurii Ward, Bonchari, and Juja constituencies.
