IEBC Clears Senator Sakaja for Nairobi Gubernatorial Race
The Independent and Electoral boundaries commission Chair Wafula Chebukati on Tuesday 7th gave a nod for Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaja alongside his running mate Njoroge Muchiri to vie for the Nairobi gubernatorial race in the August 9th polls.
Sakaja is expected to contest on Deputy President William Ruto`s United Democratic Alliance Party {UDA}.
His clearance comes barely a day on June 6th after his University Degree became the center of attention after he was asked to present a degree from St. Lawrence, a women’s college in Uganda.
The seat has drawn the interests of the likes of Polycap Igathe on Azimio Ticket, Agnes Kagure and independent Candidate, and the United Progressive Alliance party Nairobi flagbearer Kenneth Nyamwamu.
Two weeks Kenneth unveiled human rights activist and former banker Lilian Tina Achieng as his running mate.
Nyamwamu said he chose Achieng because of her unwavering support and experience in community work and women's problems, and that their ticket represented Nairobi's face.
“We are running for leadership to give the city a new face. Achieng has her heart in the community and that is the kind of leadership we want to give Nairobi,” he said.
