IG Mutyambai Ordered to Probe into Death of Missing IEBC Official

The Inspector General of Police Hillary Mutyambai has been ordered with the Law Society of Kenya president-elect Eric Theuri to comb into the death of late Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission official Daniel Mbolu Musyoka.

This comes after, the IEBC Official's body was found by herders on Monday night in a river close to the Kilombero forest in Oloitoktok, a few days after he was reported missing.

Theuri while addressing the journalist on Tuesday 16th August called on IG Mutyambai to deploy "the best investigative resources" to bring the perpetrators involved in the case to book.

Theuri also wants Mutyambai to guarantee the safety of all IEBC officials and that they won't suffer reprisals for their work.

"We also called on the Inspector General of Police to deploy the best investigative resources this country has to unravel the heinous actors responsible for this cruel act and also reassure the country and indeed all IEBC officials that their service to this country does not amount to a death warrant," said Theuri.

The LSK boss also expressed his condolences to the deceased's family and assured them of their legal support throughout the investigation.

"We would wish to extend our heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of the late Daniel Mbolu Musyoka and assure them that the Law Society of Kenya will follow up on the investigations to ensure full accountability for the senseless and heinous death."

According to preliminary findings, it is believed that Musyoka might had been killed somewhere else and the body was brought to be dumped there. 

Other earlier reports by this publication indicated that Musyoka, 53, vanished on August 11 after getting up at 9:45 a.m. to make a phone call.
