Despite speculations that she had dropped out in favor of Polycarp Igathe, Nairobi governorship hopeful Agnes Kagure has underlined that she is still running for the position.

On Facebook, Kagure dismissed the rumors as "hearsay," while emphasizing that she was still in the running for City Hall's top job, implying that she would go the independent path.

So many rumors are being peddled by agents of doom, but they are just that, idle rumors! We began this journey years ago and officially launched it on January 7th. I have no plans of abandoning the hundreds of thousands who believe in it halfway,” Kagure said.

Our dream of a better Nairobi that is supportive of our talents and ambitions, a city that is the envy of other cities, and a county that takes care of its residents is firmly on course.”

Following what he described as successful consensus talks, Kagure, Westlands MP Tim Wanyonyi, and businessman Richard Ngatia agreed to drop their bids and support him, according to former Equity Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) Igathe.

Igathe's remarks came after a day of deliberation at State House in Nairobi on Thursday about who among himself and the other three would fly the Azimio One Kenya flag in the city's top contest.

Wanyonyi, Ngatia, and Kagure orally agreed to support Igathe's bid, according to Igathe.
