Is Citizen TV boss SK Macharia campaigning for Raila Odinga?
Kenyans allied to the Deputy President William Ruto on various social media platforms condemned Citizen TV boss SK Macharia over misleading information in favor of ODM leader- Raila Odinga. The disgruntled DP supporters accused the media house of intentional misleading information and political bias. The keyboard warriors alleged that privately owned and one of the largest media houses in Kenya has been limiting its media coverage in favor of Raila Odinga’s 2022 presidential bid while failing to cover the DP's campaign with the same vigor.

The DP supporters were rattled by three different reports; one covering Raila’s campaign in Nairobi, a second report on the stoning of the DP’s motorcade on a campaign in Nyeri and a third separate incidence showing the warm reception of Ruto in Githurai. The Citizen TV failed to cover the Githurai campaign and instead, portrayed the rejection of the DP in the Mt. Kenya region. These therefore raised a question of the reliability of the house in providing unbiased information.

Political inclination and partiality by the media houses is highly toxic especially as the country nears a general election. With less than a year to the elections, political heat is increasing and however, the people deserve access to the right information in order to make the right decision.
