Fouad Kamamji, the father of the prisoner Ayham Kamamji, who was arrested again at dawn on Sunday, told the local TV station “He [Ayham] risked his life, got out, and managed to get to Jenin – despite all the military reinforcements, the army and all the technology that Israel owns, he managed to get to Jenin” and “hold out for two weeks.”

The police said on Twitter on Sunday that these people were the last of the six prisoners who escaped from Gilboa prison on September 6. They were found in the eastern area of Jenin City.

The Israeli police identified the two as Ayham Nayef Kamamji and Munadel Yacoub Infai`at. According to the Palestinian Prisoners Club, Kamamji was arrested in 2006 and is serving a life sentence, and Infai`at was arrested in 2019. Fouad Kamamji stated that he received a call from his son at 1:45 am telling him that he was surrounded in Jenin by Israeli occupying forces.

Fouad added that he believed that whoever provided Ayham a place to rest showed "true patriotism" and the soul of the Palestinian people. The Israeli army stated that these individuals surrendered “after being surrounded by security forces”

That wasn’t the case for Munadel Infai`at Jenin, whose family learned of his arrest through the news at 2.30 in the morning. His mother in a live TV interview called Munadr's arrest a "disaster" and stated that the family had no idea that he was in Jenin in the first place.

“I hold Israel responsible – if anything happens to my son – they will be held responsible,” she said.

Local residents said Palestinians in Jenin clashed with Israeli troops when they attacked the city earlier on Sunday. According to the Israeli military, clashes occurred when the troops were retreating. Residents threw stones and explosives at the army, and the troops countered with live rounds.

On Friday, Israeli authorities announced that they had arrested Mahmoud Abdullah al-Ardah and Yaqoub Mahmoud Qadri in the southern fringes of Nazareth. Earlier on Saturday, Zakaria Zubeidi and Mohammed al-Ardah were arrested in Shibli Umm al Ghanam, a village in Palestine.

The escapees used the handles of spoons, plates, and the handle of a kettle to escape from Israel's highest security prison, by digging a tunnel under the sink in their cell. The men’s lawyer said that they started working on the tunnel last December.

Spoons became a symbol during the Palestinian celebrations when the prisoners escaped. Palestinians were seen to be holding them high or clapping them against each other in support of the way the prisoners escaped the prison.

The Hollywood style prison break dominated the news headlines, sparking severe condemnation of Israeli prison services.

The entire group is serving sentences for conspiracy or assault on Israelis.
