Italy’s Ambassador to Congo Is Dead
Luca Attanasio the Italian ambassador to the Democratic Republic of Congo has been murdered in eastern DR Congo where an attack occurred in Goma.

The attackers are still unknown but investigations are underway to unveil them.
According to the Virunga national park where the attack occurred stated that the convoy was attacked at about 10.15 am (0815 GMT) during an attempted kidnap by assailants near the town of Kanyamahoro, a few miles away from the north of the regional capital Goma.

The park also added that the two victims in the convoy had been Murdered and the Ambassador Wounded. The third person killed was a driver.
According to the ministry website, the deceased Attanasio had been Italy’s head of mission in Kinshasa since 2017where he was later made Italy`s ambassador to DRC Congo in 2019 to date until he met his death today.

Mr. Attanasio died in the Monusco hospital in Goma where he was receiving treatment after the attack.
