On behalf of the UDA, Korir addressed his supporters that he was appreciative of the Lang'ata community for giving him the opportunity to serve them for five years.

Additionally, he sent his congratulations to Felix Odiwuor, also known as Jalang'o, an ODM candidate who was widely expected to win.

"I  sincerely thank you for according me an opportunity to be your Member of Parliament for the last 5 years. It's been a great opportunity that gave me an avenue to contribute to our nation-building and service to the people," the former aide to Deputy President William Ruto stated.

Korir claimed that his opponent Jalango had an early advantage based on the results we had tabulated at the Generali Centre.

"My competitor Jalango has a lead and I want to congratulate him as he prepares to take the mantle and move Langata forward. Siasa si chuki. God bless Langata," he remarked.

The MP had expressed certainty in keeping his seat in the current General Election on Tuesday.

Korir expressed trust in the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to conduct a legitimate election after casting his ballot at the Lang'ata Road Primary School.

“According to the voters’ turnout and the campaign, definitely we are winning. But I can see the town is a little bit slower, maybe because it was a little bit cold in the morning.

"I can see it is now picking and we hope that it will continue that way. I am yet to look at the actual numbers in terms of the voter turnout,” he stated.

He also praised the IEBC for ensuring that the procedure goes well and expressed confidence in their ability to carry out their duty.

Korir added that the IEBC's decision to postpone voting in some regions of the nation was the proper course of action in order to allow for the fixing of the mistakes and guarantee a credible election.

“I think the postponement is based on goodwill because there is no way an election can continue if there is an error in the ballot paper and I think IEBC has acted properly so that now they can handle that situation at the right time when that correction has been done, ” he stated.

In a similar case, Chama Cha Kazi party leader Moses Kuria conceded defeat in the Kiambu Governor’s race, even before the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission declared the winner.

The Gatundu South lawmaker said that he will leave active politics and focus on private business.

Kuria has served as a Member of Parliament for Gatundu for two terms.

“I enjoyed every minute of my 8 years in elective politics. Back to the private sector. Happily,” stated Kuria.

Provisional results from IEBC indicate that Kimani Wamatangi of UDA is leading in the race.
