Jeriel Ndeda Tops the KCSE 2021 Examinations

Jeriel Ndeda Obura, the top student in the recently released 2021 KCSE results, has stated that he did not expect to be the top student, despite expecting to score Grade A.

Obura, who attended Mang'u High School, received a perfect score of 87.167 points. He credited his outstanding performance to constant revision and practice.

"I did not think I was going to be at the top of the class. I told my friends I'll just get Grade A of 84 points," Obura stated.

In an interview with one of the media houses, Ndeda said he wants to join Maseno university to pursue a medicine course. This is in contrast to other top students who plan to attend top universities such as Nairobi University and Kenyatta University.

Jeriel revealed that he loved Biology and that is the reason he'd like to pursue a medicine course. 

"I love working with living things and Biology," Obura stated.

He believes he will make breakthroughs in the field.

Despite the stiff competition at Mang'u High School, he praised his friends and teachers for motivating and believing in him.

He topped over 800,000 people who took the exams between March 11 and April 1, this year.

Mukuha Timothy Kamau of Alliance High School came in second with 87.139 points, and Job Ngara of Mangu High School came in third with 87.139 points (87.1 points).

 789 male candidates scored A plain, beating their female counterparts who only had 349 A plains, summing to 1,138 candidates.
