Jimi Wanjigi Lauds High Court Judge for Jailing Kinoti

Justice Anthony Mrima had directed Kinoti, Inspector General of Police and the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) to return all firearms and ammunition among them a pistol, a Smith and Wesson taken from the presidential hopefuls residence in 2017.

In his ruling, justice Mrima sentenced Kinoti to four months imprisonment without the option of a fine and ordered him to surrender himself to Kamiti Maximum prison within seven days failure to which the Inspector General of Police will effect a warrant of arrest against him.

Speaking after addressing university students, Wanjigi maintained that the court had proven that nobody was above the law.

"Every single Kenyan, there is no exception and those who think that these are the day of impunity should read the constitution of this country which was passed in 2010," he said.

He regretted that the government and its arms have a track record of not obeying court orders but insisted that their days were numbered.

He said that the court had defined itself that court orders must be obeyed and maintained that even when Kinoti is out not an office, his successor must enforce the orders.

"When he is out of office, whoever is next must obey those court orders and if they don't, they understand what the future lies ahead of them," he insisted.
