JOBS: Accountant, Back Office at Tala (formerly InVenture)

What You'll Do

• Tala is looking for a dynamic team player who is self-directed in completing assigned projects and will oversee the daily accounting operations and routine processes including but not limited to bank reconciliations, month_end standard reconciliations, and driving special projects among others. The responsibilities of the role are as follows:
• Reports directly to the Associate Manager - Accounting Optimisation Team.
• Lead team member for driving the centralized reconciliation processes, Identifying processes to bring to AOT-Central, understanding current processes performed by local market teams, innovating on those accounting processes
• Planning how AOT can onboard accounting processes and lead implementation.
• Assist the Global Accounting Team with all aspects of Tala’s day-to-day accounting operations which includes, but is not limited to:

Bank Reconciliation

• Weekly uploading of bank transaction lines in NetSuite
• Reconciliation of bank transactions in NetSuitePreparation of global bank reconciliation statements
• Oversee and manage global reconciliations.

Accounts Payable.

• Processing of cash liquidation and reimbursements in Expensify.
• Processing of Corporate Card transactions in NetSuite.
• Processing of standard and ad-hoc payments in NetSuite, and confirming accuracy/appropriateness with relevant team members.
• Review the financial systems, processes, and procedures on an ongoing basis for further development of efficiencies. Assist in the review of monthly financial statements.
• Establish reasonable internal controls and maintain adequate and current documentation of accounting processes. Maintain adequate and effective processes to improve the close and reporting cycles to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
• Flagging unusual/suspicious activity within our global bank accounts, and assistance in ensuring sufficient cash levels held in each account to cover upcoming payments.
• Follow corporate policies and procedures such as invoice processing, cash management, and expense policies.

What You'll Need

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Related Field
• CPA K - Certified Public Accountant- KASNEB
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• 3+ years of working experience as an Accountant preferably in the fintech industry.

Preferred Need

• Preferably with experience in Netsuite or other accounting software.
• Experience working for a global company with teams and offices located in different geographies and time zones
• Conscientious about the timeliness of assignments and quality of work product.
• Possess exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to articulate daily work updates in a concise and timely manner.
• Able to handle multiple tasks and maintain control and order over the same.
• Exceptional work ethic
