JOBS: Fake Job Adverts

Fake job postings are on the rise as people take advantage of unemployed people, particularly young people. As a job seeker, you must exercise extreme caution when responding to online job postings.

JOBS: Fake Job Adverts

There are various ways to know how to know a fake job offer. From the article, you can be able to identify which job offer is legit and which one is not.

In Kenya, the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) came out to warn Kenyans about the fake job alert on examiners, especially on social media.

The council made the announcement after a fake poster circulated on social media indicating that teachers would be trained in preparation for national exams.

The body was quick to warn the public in a statement issued on July 21.

The fake post demanded that the teachers pay a training fee of Sh10,500 via mobile money services.

"Each applicant will be required to pay a training fee of Sh10,500 through KNEC pay bill number 819313 using their own registered mobile phone number," read part of the statement.

Applicants were required to state whether they had completed KCPE, KCSE, PTE, DTE, Business, or Technical training.

"Qualified applicants will be trained to mark the above examinations. Successful trainees will be incorporated into KNEC Examiners’ database," read part of the statement.

According to the fake letter, the application deadline was September 2022, with training scheduled between October 3 and October 9.

KNEC warned Kenyans about fake news, claiming that it only posts on its official Facebook and Twitter pages.

From such a scenario, as a job seeker, you need to verify the job advert that you have seen by visiting the company's official pages to identify if the job offer is genuine. Or you can physically visit the offices to verify.

Here are job samples in Kenya that you can apply for.
