 IRDO’s principal mandate is to design, implement and evaluate HIV/AIDS research and intervention programs that improve the health status of individuals and local communities.

Job Summary

  • The Pharmacist will be responsible for monitoring the supply of all medicines used in the hospital. S/he will be in charge of purchasing, dispensing, and performing quality checks on medication stock.

Major duties and responsibilities:

  • Oversee monthly reporting on the consumption of medicines, non-pharmaceuticals, and overall stock status from all the relevant service points.
  • Together with other clinical teams, support procurement of quality medicines, other consumables, and medical equipment for the IRTHS Pharmacy and other departments.
  • Develop guidelines and standard operating procedures for training IRTHS partners and teams.
  • With the business and training manager and other trainers, support quality training on pharmaceutical products for providers or clients.
  • Develop a business strategy for pharmacy and non-pharmaceutical products that ensures attainment of access, sales, and surplus targets.
  • Provide timely monthly and quarterly financial and non-financial performance reports for drug wholesale and retail trading.
  • Dispense pharmacy supplies and keep accurate reports on drugs and other pharmacy supplies
  • Support teams in planning and target-setting with performance management to ensure achievement of goals.

Minimum Qualification:

  • Diploma in Pharmacy from a recognized Institution.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy added advantage.
  • Possesses a valid practicing license from the Pharmacy and Poisons Board of Kenya, which must be available for use by the hospital if needed.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of clinical pharmaceutical experience.
  • Experience in clinical research is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in the use of health information systems
