Jubilee to Attend Azimio's Planned Rallies

Jubilee's Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni on Monday noted that they, together with other parties under the Azimio coalition, are awaiting a directive from Mr. Odinga on the specifics of the meeting.

"We will get the details of it. If it is a rally that we will need to attend as members of the opposition then we will attend. I am sure we will get communication from Raila Odinga," he said during an interview with Spice FM.

"I will reach out to him so that we get into the details of when is the rally meeting and what is the plan."

On Saturday, the Jubilee SG had said that the former ruling party would not participate in Odinga’s rallies which are set to kick off on Wednesday, December 7, at the Kamukunji Grounds in Nairobi.

KANU had also distanced itself from the rallies.

At the same time, Kioni defended Raila's plan to rally against Ruto's administration, saying protesting is a cardinal tool provided for the opposition and which Raila is using applicably.

"Protesting is a tool that is available to the opposition and they should use it when they think it is appropriate. It is also provided for in the constitution," he said.

He urged the government to “listen to the issues” being raised by the opposition, instead of what he termed as being arrogant.

“The government should not say that they are ready for the protesting, that is being arrogant,” he noted.

Odinga plans to have two separate public rallies at the Kamukunji grounds in Nairobi. After Wednesday’s rally, he is set to hold another on Monday, December 12.

He has since teased making a big revelation at the rally, tweeting on Sunday, “We know what they did, how they did it, and who helped them do it. We shall reveal all that shortly.”
