Justice served for Kianjokoma brothers

Six police officers involved in the killing of Benson Njiru and Emmanuel Mutura from Kianjokoma village in Embu have finally been charged. The two brothers were arrested on the night of August 1st, and hauled into a police vehicle only to be found dead. The prosecution concluded that the two were assaulted with a blunt object on their heads and the subsequent demises.

The accused made an effort to delay the hearing for the second time insisting that the Director of Public Prosecution should have filled a public inquest on the death of the two brother. A couple of dramas have been involved in the case with the accused turning down state representation. The six rogue officers were asked to name the lawyers they wanted to be represented by and Lawyer Dunstan Omari who had already withdrawn from representing them led the new team

According to the DPP and state prosecutor- Jecinter Nyamosi, the ruling can be overturned on successful application of public inquest. Justice has finally been served with an hope to send a clear massege to like minded officers than the law is a double edged sword and no one is above the law. Although the ruling can not bring the brothers back to life, the family can experience a sense of relief that justice has been served.
