Kitui Senator, Enoch Wambua, who is also a member of the panel led by Noah Wekesa, confirmed that his party's leader will be interviewed before the deadline expires today.

According to Wambua, the interviews were more like conversations than vetting, as many Kenyans believed.

"Yes, he will be attending the conversations. It is not an interview," Wambua revealed.

Kalonzo previously stated that he would not be interviewed in his bid to deputize Raila in the August 9 General Election.

Kalonzo's move to attend the interviews comes barely a few days when he claimed that he would not be interviewed in his bid to deputize Raila in the August 9 General Election.

“I said in due respect that no, I will not appear for an interview,” Kalonzo stated.

Even though he insisted that he was the best candidate for the job, he stated that appearing before the interviews would be disrespectful to him. Kalonzo's refusal to attend the interviews sparked many reactions, especially from leaders in the Kenya Kwanza coalition who viewed that as a disrespect to him.

Deputy President William Ruto stated that it was humiliating and embarrassing for Azimio leaders to make Kalonzo appear before the interview panel yet he had proven to be a good leader.

"Though we are competitors, to subject HE Kalonzo to some humiliating 'interview' is impunity. We must unite to eliminate the culture of political deceit, the hallmark of some politicians. Whatever the circumstances every leader deserves some dignity and respect. Heshima si utumwa," DP Ruto tweeted.

The interviews began on Monday, May 9, with Narc Kenya leader Martha Karua, Murang'a Women Representative Sabina Chege, and governors Ali Hassan Joho and Wycliffe Oparanya appearing before the 7-member panel.
Gideon Moi, Chairman of the KANU, did not attend the Monday sessions after publicly supporting Kalonzo Musyoka.

In addition to the Wiper party leader, Kalonzo Musyoka, governor Charity Ngilu, Agriculture CS Peter Munya, and former Gatanga MP, Peter Kenneth will be vetted.
