The four One Kenya Alliance - OKA constituent parties have written to the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties (ORPP) under Ann Nderitu, requesting that the Azimio la Umoja - One Kenya coalition party's registration be halted.

OKA leaders Musyoka, Gideon Moi of KANU, and Cyrus Jirongo of the United Democratic Party - UDP have presented three points that they believe have been secretly changed and do not reflect what the alliance signed.

The number of caucuses, which according to OKA was just three when they signed the contracts on April 1, was one of the problems voiced. However, according to the materials supplied, the caucuses have been increased to four.

Before the Coalition is officially registered as a party at the ORPP, OKA leaders want the matter of Raila Odinga's running partner thoroughly handled.

It is apparent that the Agreement lodged on the 1st April 2022 was withdrawn and certain clauses amended or altered without the consent of all the parties and signatories," read part of statement.

The number of members of the coalition council under the coalition political party has been expanded from seven to eleven, according to OKA's letter. Before registration, Kalonzo's caucus wants the issue of council members to be adequately resolved.

"Our objection is premised on the fact that three (3) issues have not been agreed upon and are to be deliberated and agreed upon before the Agreement is fully registered, these are as follows: -The number of caucuses; these had been agreed as three (3) on 1st April 2022 and presented as four (4) on the 9th April 2022," read part of the statement.

The fresh demands by OKA come only days after Raila Odinga, the head of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), met with the Mwanzo Mpya caucus, led by Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua, to resolve their differences.

"I believe this country needs the experience of a statesman and the ability of a youthful person. I'm 51 years old very happy, and very youthful and therefore, I present myself for consideration as the running mate to Raila Odinga. Raila needs someone he can trust and I know he can trust me.” Mutua stated
