KBC Journalist Shot Dead in Ngong Home during Robbery

Another sombre mood has hit the media fraternity as Kenya Broadcasting channel {KBC} Video Editor Betty Mutekhele Barasa was shot dead by robbers at her home in Ololuwa Ngong.

According to investigations, Betty had arrived home at around 8.20 pm when a gang that had been waiting at the entrance forced their way into the compound immediately the gate was opened by her house manager.

Betty was at work on Wednesday before she met her untimely death and she left for her new home in Ngong to join her husband and three children.

In relation to the family`s investigative report, three men had been waiting for Mrs. Barasa to arrive where two of them were armed with AK47 rifles.

As the late drove into the compound, the 3 bully men forced their way in, prompting the house help to run into darkness as she screamed saying there were strangers in the compound.

However, it is believed that the house help`s screams Didn’t stop them either in accomplishing their mission.

The gang followed Betty up to where she parked and ordered her out at gunpoint leading her into the house where Her husband and children were but much in shock following the screams of the house help and the arrival of the strangers.

According to eyewitnesses, one of the gunmen demanded money from Betty and ordered her to take him to the bedroom upstairs while 2 others remained in the sitting room harassing them demanding to be given money and other valuables.

The husband and children begged the gang to spare them and take anything they wanted.

During the argument moment, they heard two consecutive gunshots.
Betty had been shot dead by one of the gunmen who had taken her upstairs to demand valuable materials.

After the aftermath, the gang seized the journalist’s laptop & mobile phone then left.

The body of the deceased was taken to Montezuma Funeral Home as a team of detectives from DCI headquarters to join Ngong's counterparts in the investigations on the murder.

However, Barasa’s colleagues described her as a dedicated journalist who made a mark in her work.
