Their lunch hour was cut short by the feeling of anxiety that came with thoughts of how their son will perform.

Although Wanjala and his father were confident he is going to perform well, being the top candidate countrywide was out of their equation.

However, for his mother, she was confident her son would be the best.

Wanjala says he could not believe that the CS announced his name as the top student in the country.

” I did not believe I had heard my name, in fact, I moved closer to the TV to confirm it was me,” he said.

Wanjala thanked his teachers who despite the COVID-19 pandemic, constantly continued helping him through online learning and being available to his concerns.

He says that the results were a shocker to him but he is so eager to pursue medicine at the University.

“I would like to take a course in medicine at The University of Nairobi. I had applied for medicine as the first option and engineering as the second,” he said.

His parents thanked Murang’a High School teachers for holding their son’s hand throughout his learning saying they are extremely happy for their son’s milestone.
