Kenyan Arrested For Stabbing People In Bombay Streets, India

On June 1, a Kenyan national was apprehended in the streets of Bombay, India, after he went on a rampage and stabbed seven people.

According to police from the Azad Maidan station, the suspect attacked innocent people on the streets with a knife.

After being informed of the events, the police acted quickly and detained the 50-year-old suspect after seizing the firearm.

The seven patients were sent to nearby hospitals with injuries to their chests, necks, and hands.

"He attacked numerous persons, and subsequently, the locals present there informed the police control room, after which a team went to the spot to take control of the situation."

"The reason behind the attack is still unknown. We have detained him, and questioning is on," an officer told the media. 

The officer stated that the Kenyan will face accusations of attempted murder.

Interrogation revealed that the suspect had left the residence following a verbal dispute with a female companion and then gone to the Oval Maidan, near the Bombay High Court, where he embarked on a stabbing spree.

According to one of the victims who talked to the media, the Kenyan citizen attempted to attack the police when they came but was eventually restrained.

“He tried to attack me near my neck, but I defended myself with my hands. I sustained injuries to a finger on my right hand. He later attacked more people, and when police arrived, he tried to attack them as well," the victim stated. 

The police team recovered CCTV footage to examine and learn more about what happened before the tragedy. Officers would also run the suspect's records through the Foreigners' Regional Registration Office.
