Kenyans are now pleading with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) not to approve the pending Ksh257 billion loan.

Via the hashtag #StopLoaningKenya, Kenyans have been giving various reasons as to why Kenya does not deserve the loan, owing to its rising public debt.

The nation's public debt has remained rising steadily, especially in the last one year the nation has been fighting the Covid-19 pandemic.

Kenyans have been questioning the benefits of the loan to the citizens, given a recent confession by President Kenyatta himself over how Sh2 billion was being stolen daily by few individuals.

Kenyans want the government compelled to explain how they have utilized past loans, before being reviewed for another loan.

However, Treasury Cabinet Secretary (CS) Ukur Yatani defended the loan, adding that its approval will go a long way in helping the nation fight the pandemic.
