Kenya’s Joyciline Jepkosgei Wins Women’s Race In London

Joyciline Jepkosgei of Kenya won the women's London Marathon in two hours, 17 minutes, and 43 seconds on Sunday, October 3rd, as world record holder and defending winner Brigid Kosgei faded away.

Kosgei finished late outside the podium places.

Sisay Lemma of Ethiopia, on the other hand, won the elite men's race by a comfortable margin, with British junior doctor Phil Sesemann finishing eighth.

He crossed the line in 2:04.01, 27 seconds ahead of Kenyan Vincent Kipchuma, with Ethiopian Mosinet Geremew in third place.

However, Jepkosgei, the reigning New York Marathon champion, smashed her personal best of 2:18.40 on her debut in the English capital, becoming the seventh fastest woman in history.
