Kisumu county boss Professor Anyang Nyong'o will on Friday face the Senate Health Committee, to give an account for the Covid-19 funds.

The governor has further been warned of risking a fine of up to Sh.0.5 million, or an arrest warrant should he abscond the summon.

The latter failed to honour his April 20, 2021, summon by the committee. This was despite the fact that the summon had been publicised via the Standard and Daily Nation newspapers.

"The Committee may impose upon you a fine not exceeding five hundred thousand shillings or may order for your arrest...," states part of the most recent summon.

By not honouring his previous summon, the county boss reportedly violated the Parliamentary Powers and Privileges Act 2017.

In today's virtual appearance, Nyong'o will be required to explain queries that arose over the Covid-19 funds' usage, following a recent audit by the Auditor-General Ms. Nancy Gathungu.
