The expose was dubbed "Doctored Evil" where a number of serious claims, including sexual assault, were leveled against the hospital's owner, George Mbugua, and some of his employees.

According to the council, it claimed that it took the decision after carefully assessing the facts of the case, the nature of the allegations, and the necessity to safeguard the public while the case is heard and decided.

“Consequently, you are hereby directed to close the facility with immediate effect and organize in consultation with patients /relatives to transfer all the in-patients to other facilities of their choice within 24 hours,” said KMPDC boss Dr Daniel Yumbya.

He also ordered the proprietor to appear before a joint investigation of several health regulatory organizations on Monday, February 28, 2022, at 10 a.m. at the KMPDC office building, 3rd floor, where the matter would be discussed and decided.

Dr Yumbya has asked the member of the Laikipia County Executive Committee in charge of Health Services to organize and guarantee a smooth transfer of all affected patients to their preferred alternative institutions.

He also asked Dr. Peter Kamunyo, the CEO of the National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF), to guarantee that any impacted patients who are covered by the NHIF are properly cared for.
