The 22-year old whose contract is set to run from 1st July agreed to the club’s personal terms after a successful medical test and his move now depends on international clearance and a UK permit.

"It's a really exciting moment for me and my family," said Konate

The defender made 21 appearances for RB Leipzig leading them to a second finish in Bundesliga and is he’s also part of France's squad for the Uefa European Under-21 Championship that starts on Monday.

"Right now, my focus is on the Under-21 European Championships with France, but after this competition I know I will be joining one of the best teams in the world and that gives me a great feeling," said Konate.

Konate is set to have a major role in the shattered Liverpool defense after losing their key defenders such as Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip to long term injuries last season which almost cost them a top four finish.

The signing of the Frenchman to Anfield was no big news for the Turkish defender Ozan Kabak for he had been consulted before Konate’s signing which concludes that The Reds will permanently reject to sign the 21-year-old for £18m with add-ons as per the January terms.
