According to KOT, President Ruto was suspected of reading his speech from a teleprompter because he was eloquent and could articulate the words correctly without difficulty.

Various Kenyans have also defended President William Ruto as being a brilliant person and that he did not use a teleprompter when making his speech at the United Nations (UN) General Assembly in Manhattan, New York.

"President William Ruto's speech during yesterday's 77th UN was electrifying. Whether written and read through a teleprompter or directly from his brains," a tweet read.

What is a teleprompter?

It is also known as autocue.

It is a display device that provides an electronic visual text of a speech or script to the person speaking.

While the speaker can look directly into the camera lens while reading the script, the teleprompter creates the illusion that the speaker has memorized the speech or is speaking spontaneously.

Ruto stated during his address to the 77th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York that nations must work together to recover from the devastation caused by climate change, the global food crisis, terrorism, cybercrime, armed conflict, and the pandemic.

President Ruto also stated that the global food crisis could be solved by implementing economic inclusion strategies, which would then lead to sustainable development.

In his speech, the Head of State also urged foreign nations to assist the worst-affected countries by sharing climate adaptation technologies and working toward multilateralism.
