KURA To Evict Viral Chips Vendor Kwamboka

The Kenyan government, through the Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA), is planning to evict Chips Mwitu, a seller who went viral after her work attire became a matter of controversy.

KURA To Evict Viral Chips Vendor Kwamboka

KURA on Friday 8th sent a stun warning to Bevalyne Kwamboka after her viral news that she does chips business in Nairobi's Donholm area.

KURA issued a statement cautioning against establishing enterprises near public footbridges or infringing on road reserves.

"This is unauthorized and an infringement to pedestrian rights, the footbridges and walkways are meant for pedestrian passage and not any form of business," reads an excerpt of the statement.

However, KURA's statement comes barely a day after the chip's vendor chastised nominated Senator Millicent Omanga for reportedly lying about receiving money, umbrellas, and aprons from her.

Kwamboka stated that the Senator had gifted her an umbrella and two Aprons. She added that there was no money issued to her as Senator Millicent Omanga posted on her social media page.

She also mentioned that Omanga's team left with some of the items she claimed they had given her.

"For clarification, team Millicent Omanga only bought potatoes worth Ksh 350, came out of the vehicle with 5 umbrellas, took photos returned them, and gave out one and two aprons," she stated via her Twitter account.

This prompted Lady Omanga to speak up, claiming that the student was attempting to smear her name despite the assistance she had provided.

"I'm thus disturbed to learn that she has complained and rubbished the support she got through my office.

"I did my best under the circumstances and I'm sorry that I didn't meet her expectations which appear to have been higher. In such situations the truth, honesty, and facts are sacrificed at the altar of social media fame, blackmail, and malicious," she stated.
