The French world cup winner opened up about his desire to leave Paris for Madrid before his contract expires but insists he is happy at PSG and does not shut the future doors.

Kylian Mbappe: I wanted to leave only for Real Madrid but they refused!

PSG turned down the first £137m bid from Spanish giants, Real Madrid for the golden boy before giving another ‘no’ on the second bid also. Mbappe said in an interview with RMC that he had informed PSG about his decision early enough so that all parties involved benefit and prepare for the new season.

“My position was clear, I wanted to leave. I said early enough so that the club could react and everyone to come out of this stronger, I wanted the club to receive a transfer fee and find a quality replacement”

The Frenchman however, expressed his dissatisfaction with how his club handled the entire situation, “I did not appreciate the fact that they said I came(telling the club he wanted out) in the last week of August because I told them about my decision before the Euros”.

The 22-year old sensation, whose contract expires next summer, was heavily linked with Los Blancos in the last transfer window.  Mbappe stay is an enormous boost to PSG in the quest for European glory especially after landing a dozen superstars in world football. PSG has the most electric front three in Mbappe, Neymar, and Messi but the protagonists of the Paris-based club’s project are yet to show an on-field cohesion especially after a 2-0 loss over the weekend in the hands of Rennes without recording a single shot on target. Kylian Mbappe has 9 goal contributions in 11 matches across all club competitions this season.
