Larry Madowo has finally graduated in person from Columbia University, where he was enrolled in the university's Graduate School of Journalism for a post-graduate degree program.

My in-person graduation from Columbia University was delayed by 2 years, but it was still special. I came back to New York to confirm that my master’s in Business & Economics Journalism was real. It is & they haven’t changed their minds,he wrote on his social media.

Madowo, who now holds a Master’s in Business and Economics Journalism, expressed delight at the in-person graduation ceremony, which he said had been delayed by two years.

He completed his Master’s in Business and Economics Journalism in May 2020

He also won the coveted 2020 Philip Greer Award for Financial Writing after co-authoring an MBA case study at Columbia Business School.

Madowo began his broadcasting career at KTN at the age of 20. He previously worked for NTV Kenya as The Trend’s host. He has worked for CNBC Africa in Johannesburg, where he hosted the business channel's daily market programming Open Exchange, Power Lunch, and Closing Bell.

He was also the BBC's North America Correspondent, where he covered US news issues such as the Covid-19 outbreak, the 2020 presidential election, and the riots following George Floyd's death and Derek Chauvin's sentencing.

He is currently a CNN International Correspondent and Tuesday, May 17, marked his first anniversary at the CNN, which he shared on the media.

“I'm one year old at CNN today. It's been an extraordinary year reporting and anchoring from 4 continents, and I couldn't be more grateful. But I'm an African first, and I'd love to tell more of our stories,” he expressed.
