William Ruto's victory has prompted several world leaders to congratulate him on becoming Kenya's fifth president in the recently concluded August 9 elections

Ruto was declared the winner by Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) chairman Wafula Chebukati after receiving 7,176,141 votes, representing 50.49 percent of the total votes cast.

Raila Odinga's Azimio La Umoja One Kenya coalition party received 6,942,930 votes, accounting for 48% of all ballots cast.

Several leaders have issued congratulatory messages to William Ruto in response to his victory. Some of the leaders have also shared the messages on their social media accounts.

Tanzania's president, Samia Suluhu, took to Twitter to congratulate Kenyans on holding peaceful elections and electing their president-elect, William Ruto.

According to a press release, South Sudan President Salva Kiir also praised and acknowledged William Ruto's victorious election campaign.

"On behalf of the government and the people of South Sudan, I write to congratulate you (William Ruto) on your election as the fifth president of Kenya. I would like to assure you of my firm commitment to working with you collaboratively on priorities that will move our region forward," part of the statement read.

Somalia's president, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, also expressed his congratulations on Twitter.

Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa, Zimbabwe's president, also congratulated William Ruto on his victory.
