Lewandowski Wins Germany Footballer of the Year Award Again

Bayern Munich forward Lewandowski has been voted as Germany’s footballer of the year for the second time in a row.

Lewandowski Wins Germany Footballer of the Year Award Again

Lewandowski picked up the award for the first time in 2019/20 after inspiring Bayern’s run to the treble and the striker was able to keep up the same high standards in his latest campaign at Allianz Arena.

His outstanding contribution ensured that Bayern won the Bundesliga trophy for a 9th successive year and he also managed to break Muller’s 49-year-old scoring record in the competition.

The Poland forward player got 315 votes ahead of the second-place teammate Muller and 318 ahead of Borussia Dortmund striker Haaland.

Lewandowski scored 48 goals in 48 games across all the competition for Bayern last season including the 41 goals in the Bundesliga.

In his statement, Lewandowski said “Of course I am happy that I scored 41 goals in the 29 Bundesliga matches,” he added. “This number of goals fills me with great pride and is certainly a spectacular performance in view of my injury.”

On the other hand, the award for Germany’s 2020/21 coach of the year award was given to Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel.
