'Lewangoalski' at it again - Polish poacher leads Bavarians to UEFA Champions League Round of 16.

Bayern Munich maintained their perfect qualification record with a resounding 5-2 victory over Portuguese side Benfica in last night's UEFA Champions League second leg group fixture.

Bayern Munich Poacher Robert Lewandowski celebrates his goal against Benfica last night in the second leg tie of the UEFA Champions League group fixture against Benfica. 'Lewangoalski bagged a hat-trick as Bayern marched to a 5-2 victory at the Allianz Arena.

Benfica were off to a bright start as Manuel Neuer faced 2 half saves that he handled with ease and kept Bayern in the game. Lucas Verissimo then gave the visitors to what seemed like the lead but VAR had other plans as the goal was ruled offside due to Pizzi being found offside during the build up to the goal. 

Bayern responded to the imminent danger immediately as Robert Lewandowski marked his 100th Champions League campaign in style nodding home a Kingsley Coman cross to give the Bavarians the lead and his 78th UCL career goal.

Bayern made it 2-0 all thanks to Serge Gnabry who's cheeky backheel confirmed Bayerns dominance in the game so far.

Benfica who have only won once against German opposition, managed to pull one back thanks to Brazilian defender Morato. The goal marked Bayern's first conceeded goal in the Champions League campaign this season. Robert Lewandowski had the chance to make it 3 for the night but his penalty was steadily saved on the stroke of half-time.

The Bavarians continued piling pressure onto the Portuguese side defence and on-form Germany Winger Leroy Sanè restored the home side's two-goal deficit with the strike being his fourth CL goal of the season, summing up the resilient German's resurgence in the past weeks after a rough start to life in Germany. Over the past month or two he's had a goal contribution per match,. It's safe to say that he's in the form of his life.

Bayern wasn't done as Lewandowski looked to inflict more damage and he did just that, bagging his second for the night when he chipped the ball over Odysseas Vlachodimos. 

Manuel Neuer wasn't meant to have an easy day in office as Darwin Nunez reduced the deficit thirteen minutes later when his perfectly placed ball went through Manuel Neuer's legs for Benfica's second of the day.

Lewandowski wrapped up the night's show with a lofted ball into the back of the net which marked his 28th hat-trick for club and country. The win leaves Bayern unbeaten on home turf in their last 23 outings with 22 wins and one draw. Meanwhile Robert Lewandowski added his CL goal scoring tally which now stands at 81 placing him third in the all-time top scorer list but the Polish man ranks first in Goals : Game ratio. Benfica on the other hand, travel to Catalonia to face off with Barca in a spot for the runner-up position in Group E.
