Any farmer always looks for a breed of cattle that can provide maximum output with minimum input. Highland cow breed is a rare fantastic breed of cattle that are reared in temperate highlands. It is famously known for its long facial furs and quite longhorns.  Its origin was dated back to Scotland back in the 18th century. Their furs are usually pigmented either in red or black. They possess various adaptations that make them suitable for these regions.

The main adaptation of this cattle breed for these cold environments is the furs. They bear a beautiful coat of furs. In terms of reproduction, highland's breed gestation is quite similar to that of any other cow. It produces at least one calf per year. They are pretty tolerant and resistant to many benign diseases hence easy to rear. They are mainly kept for their high-quality meat and a large volume of milk with high butter content.
