According to reports, Nightman was charged with multiple felonies after allegedly using her credit cards several times after she vanished.

Chris Gakwa, Irene's brother, stated that the family suspected that something terrible had occurred to their kin and requested that the police investigate.

“We have a reason to believe that something terrible might have happened since she is not known for being silent for such a long time,” Gakwa stated.

“She used to call our parents almost daily and kept in touch with us. My sister is not a silent person. We believe she might not be okay,” Chris revealed.

Gakwa stated that Nightman was convicted of using his missing sister's email and stealing her banking cards.

According to an affidavit filed in a Gillette court, Nightman was arrested and questioned by police about his disappearance. Nightman denied ever meeting her, claiming she left Gillette in March and bid him farewell before boarding a dark-colored SUV.

Police in Gillette discovered that Nightman, a US citizen, had stolen more than Sh366,600 from Ms. Gakwa. He spent Sh60,000 at a Walmart store on a pair of boots and a pair of trousers. The suspect was apprehended as he was carrying the items from the supermarket after paying for them with Ms. Gakwa's bank card.

According to the family, their missing relative, a nursing student, has been in the United States since 2019. According to US media outlets, Ms Gakwa met her boyfriend on a dating website, but he immediately began controlling her. She was even forced to relocate from Idaho to Wyoming by the suspect.
