Luciano Spalleti is the new coach of Napoli.

Gattusso was sacked after Napoli failed to qualify for the Champions League next season. It was their last match of the season that would have put them in the top four position and the group stage slot for Champions League but failed to beat Hellas Verona. They drew 1-1 to let Juventus go ahead with one point leaving them at position five which made them qualify for Europa League.

Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis expressed his excitement when announcing Spalletti’s appointment.

“I am delighted to announce that Luciano Spalletti will become Napoli coach on 1 July. Welcome Luciano. We’ll do great work together.’’said president Aurelio De Laurentiis.

Spalleti joined Inter Milan in 9 June 2017 and signed a two-year contract. He led the club to finish position four on the log in two seasons in a row, qualifying in the Champions League. However, he was sacked on 30 May, 2019.

Gattuso parted ways with Napoli on 23 May, 2021 after being with them from 11 December, 2019 following the sacking of Carlo Ancelotti. On 17 June, 2020, Napoli beat Juventus in Coppa Italia final 4-2 on penalties to claim the title after the normal time ended in a 1-1 draw.

He was appointed as Fiorentina coach on 25 May, 2021; appointment which will take effect on 1 July, 2021.
