A man in Masogo village, Homa Bay Town constituency, is on the run after killing his cousin after they got into a domestic argument.

The victim was stabbed by his 30 year old cousin with a knife after their verbal jokes led to a disagreement which escalated to a fight.

After the victim was stabbed, he was rushed to Marindi Sub-County Hospital but his condition worsened. He was transferred to Homa Bay County Teaching and Referral Hospital for specialized care, but he passed away on arrival.

Geoffrey Ndong, the assistant chief for Kanyach Kachar South, claimed that the victim was stabbed by his cousin and the cousin in the back with a knife while they were fighting.

“We have not yet established a good reason why they fought. The report I have is that they were discussing their own issues before one of them got annoyed,” Ndong’ said.

Ndong' claimed that throughout the talk, in which the two were making fun of one another, violence broke out.

Speaking about the incident, Ndong claimed that the victim’s brother, who tried to interfere by separating the two of them was also stabbed.

The Assistant Chief warned citizens against enforcing the law themselves.

“We’re asking aggrieved residents to report such matters to relevant government authorities,” he added.

The suspect disappeared after the incident and police are currently searching for the suspect and investigating into the incident to make sure he is charged.

“The suspect disappeared after committing the offence. We reported the matter to Rodi Kopany police station for investigations,” the administrator said.

The body was taken to the morgue at Homa Bay County Referral Hospital.
