Man United Hold Initial Talks with Valverde in their Search for Interim Manager
Manchester United have held initial talks with Ernesto Valverde as they continue their search for an interim manager to take charge until the end of the season.
Valverde is one of the number of potential candidates to have spoken with United, and it is understood that other prominent managers are in the frame for the role.
United is conducting a thorough process to appoint an interim boss following the sacking of Ole Gunnar last week.
The club is planning to make a permanent appointment at the end of the season and Mauricio Pochettino is their first choice,
However, Manchester United is not ruling out the possibility of making a move for the Paris-Saint Germain manager during the current campaign.
Sportsmail revealed on Monday that Pochettino is interested in taking up the Manchester United managerial role this season.
It’s understood that the Argentine manager is prepared to leave PSG now because he is unhappy in the French capital.
Pochettino was heavily linked with the United job when Ole Gunnar replaced Jose Mourinho in December 2018 and is still admired by the Old Trafford hierarchy.
