Man Utd ease to victory over Sheriff as Jadon Sancho responds to Haters

Erik ten Hag's team cruised to a comfortable win thanks to goals from Jadon Sancho and Cristiano Ronaldo. After the victory, United will enter the international break on a high note before hosting Manchester City on October 2 in the Premier League at the Etihad.

Although this was hardly a memorable evening, Manchester United performed their duties competently, and there were also some isolated positive developments. They needed to establish themselves in Group E, which they did relatively easily when up against the sharp-tongued Sheriff Tiraspol.

On October 6, United will play in Cyprus against Omonia Nicosia, considered the worst team in Group E. The main talking points from a pleasant evening for the Red Devils are listed below.

Sancho, who was left out of England's squad earlier in the day, came close to scoring again, but his low shot was brilliantly cleared off the line on the stretch by Sheriff captain Stjepan Radeljic.

However, Ronaldo's penalty, awarded after Patrick Kpozo tripped Diogo Dalot in the box, doubled United's lead before halftime.

Ronaldo could have made it 700 club goals but side-footed over from the edge of the area, while Sheriff was unable to force David de Gea into any meaningful saves.

Real Sociedad made it two wins from two in the group with a 2-1 victory over Neil Lennon's Omonia Nicosia.
