Massimiliano Allegri is set to return to Juventus after being jobless for a year.

Massimiliano Allegri to be appointed as Juventus new manager.

The 53-year-old will replace Andrea Pirlo who joined the Turin club in August 2020. Allegri in his first stint in Juventus from 2014 to 2019 led the club to win five Serie A titles, three Coppa Italia trophies and two Italian Super Cup titles. He also reached the final of Champions League twice in his tenure in Turin, losing to Barcelona and Real Madrid.

Juventus will sack Pirlo following a disappointing season in which they finished fourth in the Serie A League and failed to win their 10th title. They were eliminated from Champions League at the round of 16 stage.

The old lady qualified for next season Champions League group stage slot on the last day of the Serie A when Napoli failed to beat Hellas Verona.

Allegri is expected to sign his contract with Juventus on Friday.
