MDG Party Leaves Azimio la Umoja to Join Kenya Kwanza

Movement for Democracy and Growth (MDG) party has joined the Kenya Kwanza alliance. The party leaders led by Ugenya Member of Parliament-elect David Ochieng were welcomed by President-elect William Ruto at the Deputy President's official residence in Karen, Nairobi.

MDG Party Leaves Azimio la Umoja to Join Kenya Kwanza

"We have concluded the agreement this morning that now makes the MDG party part of the Kenya Kwanza alliance," Ruto said in a press conference.

The President-elect said MDG's move to join the alliance is part of the grand plan to bring together the whole country and get rid of politics of ethnicity.

"This new partnership will enable us to work with the people of Nyanza and Kenya at large. It will enable us to get rid of politics of ethnicity," he said.

Ruto further said he will visit the Nyanza region once the election processes have been completed.

"I look forward to visiting every part of Kenya including the Nyanza region. We were not able to visit the four counties of Luo Nyanza because of conflicts in the last election.

"The government of Kenya that I will lead will not leave any part of Kenya behind," he stated.

On his part, the Ugenya MP-elect said he had found a home in Kenya Kwanza and he was ready to work with Ruto to ensure his constituents and Nyanza at large get government services.

"We have found a home in Kenya Kwanza and we believe in the alliance's manifesto. You (Ruto) have promised that you will not leave anyone behind as you form the next government.

"We stand with you now and into the foreseeable future," Ochieng said.

Ochieng was accompanied by former Kisumu Governor Jack Ranguma, immediate former Kisumu Senator Fred Outa and former Kisumu West MP Alago Aluoch.

Before joining Kenya Kwanza, MDG was part of the Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya coalition.
