Meaningless! Anne Waiguru Trashes Speaker Muturi 's Coronation As Mount Kenya Spokesman
Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru on Friday 21, May 2021 dismissed the national assembly speaker Justin Muturi coronation exercise to be Mt Kenya region leader terming it as meaningless. Anne waiguru argued that the coronation can only have meaning if they are done after consultation with the people and the leadership of MT. Kenya region.

In a statement she said;
''While one can not begrudge speaker Muturi and others of their desires for some form of enthronement, without consultation and consensus with the leaders and the people of mount Kenya such enthronements have little meaning politically.’’These ceremonies will not give him an upper hand because Mt Kenya never had cultural kingpins and spokespersons until the colonialist came and installed the paramount chiefs’’, she said.

Waiguru added that such coronations exercises would not give an upper hand to anyone seeking power in the region including the speaker Muturi rather they needed to seek the people's votes instead. She also went on and termed President Uhuru as the ultimate leader of the region.
‘’ultimately speaker Muturi and other seeking votes from Mt Kenya and elsewhere will have to go to the ground and seek votes from the only legal determinants of leadership, the people. In the meantime, it must be remembered that as a political community our leader the president Uhuru has not vacated his seat, and culturally we don't inherit one when they are still alive .''she opined.
The speaker's coronation exercise is set to end on Saturday, May,22,2021, where he will be crowned as mount Kenya region spokesman.
