"I will unveil a comprehensive, pragmatic, and progressive blueprint for the transformation and development of Luo Nyanza, specifically, and Kenya, generally. No one is going to wait for @RailaOdinga to die before we sort ourselves out,” Miguna stated.

In 2018, the opposition supporters protested for his release from the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) where he was reportedly held after attempting to re-enter the country from Canada. The protesters were seen erecting barricades along the main highway between Kisumu and Kakamega.

Barricades were also reported at the Kondele roundabout and bonfires were lit on some streets disrupting traffic.

Miguna Miguna was arrested in 2018 at his home in Nairobi after he participated in the opposition leader, Raila Odinga's swearing-in ceremony on January 30, 2018, as the Poeple's president. Following the event, Miguna Miguna declared himself as a 'general' of the National Resistance Movement (NRM). During the event, three of the major TV stations in Kenya, NTV, Citizen TV, and KTN News were shut down.
