According to a police report, Daniel Mbolu Musyoka's body was found by herders on Monday night in a river adjacent to the Kilombero woodland in Oloitoktok.

Kipruto Ruto, the Oloitoktok sub-county police commander, confirmed the event saying that police got claims of a badly mutilated male body discarded in a river.

He also claimed that he was murdered elsewhere, and his corpse was dumped in the region.

The officers said that his body showed obvious evidence of torture and struggle, but they are awaiting the results of a postmortem.

His sisters Mary Mwikali and Ann Mboya identified the deceased at the Loitokitok sub-county mortuary.

"The body of the deceased, vide my earlier OB no 20/15/08/2022 has been identified as of one Daniel Mbolu Musyoka by his sisters, namely Mary Mwikali and Ann Mboya at Loitokitok sub-county mortuary," the police report says.

IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati announced at a media briefing on Friday at the Bomas of Kenya that the officer was last seen at the East African School of Aviation tallying center, where he was being led by his bodyguard.

The IEBC officer reportedly vanished after taking a call at around 9.45 a.m and never went back to the office.
