Mo Salah goal scoring prowess continues as Reds sink 10 man Atleti
Liverpool's Egyptian Pharaoh Mo Salah celebrates his goal against Atletico Madrid in the UCL first leg tie last night. Salah scored twice as Liverpool emerged the victors in a close encounter.

Usually known for their pragmatic football it was quite a shock to see Atletico go 2 goals down in a span of mins. Liverpool were the dominant side and went ahead in the early stages as Mo Salah(undisputedly the World's on form player at the moment) skipped past 3 men before releasing a shot that was deflected past Jan Oblak. The opening goal marked Salah's ninth consecutive scoring game which is another Red's record.

Red's got their second as Naby Keita latched onto a poor Atletico clearance and smashed an eye-catching volley home from the edge of the area.

It looked like it'd be a fifth winless home match for Atleti but Diego Simeone injected the crowd with life and the current La Liga Santander Champions clawed back into the game with 2 goals before half-time with both goals as a result of Liverpool's poor defending as Spanish midfielder Kokè was given too much time for the ball to pick a shot that was guided by Antoine Griezmann. Atleti's second goal saw the away team's  defence slit wide open as Antoine Griezmann got behind and bagged his second for the game.

'Colchoneros' two previous encounters featured a red card and the trajectory continued as this time it was one of their very own who'd be at the receiving end as  Antoine Griezmann turned from hero to villain when his high boot caught Roberto Firmino on the face. The on-loan Barcelona man received his marching orders  hence becoming the first player in the CL to bag a brace and see red. Not a record the French international will be proud of for sure.

Spanish side was affected by the turn of events and this boiled up their frustrations which later turned out to be their undoing. Mario Hermoso brought down Portuguese Forward Diogo Jota and Mo Salah stepped up to the plate and put it away ensuring maximum points were going back to Anfield.

The Reds almost blew it at the latter stage of the game conceding a penalty however VAR intervened and overruled the decision as Jurgen Klopps men saw out the win going 5 points clear at the top of Group B.
