Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations are planning to charge Sankok for breaching the law on handling of a firearm as a licensed gun holder.

According to the second autopsy conducted by the government pathologist, Johansen Oduor, on the body of  15-year-old Hillary Memusi Sankok on Friday, May 13, revealed he may have shot himself.

Reports indicate that a forensic pathology on Memusi, however, showed diverse findings from what the autopsy conducted at Longisa Hospital in Bomet had indicated on May, 3, a day after he died.

Oduor and the head of the Homicide Department at DCI, Samuel Nyoguto, revealed that they found the bullet entered through the left side of Memusi's head just above the ear, and exited from the right side.

“The shot-gun is also 69cm long and it is shorter than the boy’s left hand and this, therefore, shows it is possible he may have shot himself. However, we cannot rule out the possibility that he was shot by someone else.

“His hand has been dusted, and the debris will be subjected to investigations. If the boy shot himself, the gun should have left some traces of powder,” investigators stated.

Memusi was pronounced dead by police officers who rushed to the home after the family raised an alarm. Cops who arrived at the scene revealed that the teenager had shot himself using a pistol on his chin, dying on the spot.

The MP was questioned by officers from the DCI based in Narok over the demise of his son after it was established that the weapon used was his licensed firearm.

Preliminary investigations further indicated that he and his son had a verbal altercation a few hours before he was found dead. Family members told the press that the argument was about the teenager refusing to return to school.

Notably, the Legislator was not at the premises when the incident happened. He had left the house for his hotel in the company of his daughter, Rosemary, to install surveillance cameras.
